Im a long time reader of these forums, but new to the chatting... I have read and read and read but I have a couple questions since i have a weird setup... Here is my set up

Car is 97 civic with d16y8 obd2 non vtec (and its staying that way lol)

BLOCK
y8 block hot tanked honed with eagle rods and vitara pistons polished and balanced crank arp bolts all throughout...

Head
a6 head fully rebuilt all oem parts (springs retainers cam lifters valves etc..)with valve job and port and polish adjustable cam gear

I got the fully rebuilt head from a family member for $100 and the block for free :D :D and thats why this is my combo of choice....

I was told to use a chipped p28... this correct? And go the obd1 conversion with the jumper harness.. I have 450cc dsm bluetops and I ported the hell out of the oil pump and shimmed it so no worries there.....

Turbo setup is still up in there air.. I got all the parts but the turbo it self though..

MY QUESTIONS!!!!

1. Which timing belt do I use since i got the y8 block and a6 head?
2. Which sensors will I have to worry about adding/removing since im converting obd?
3. Which distributor, alternator etc do I use. I read that to use all obd2 stuff then just do the conversion with the jumper harness at the ecu...
4.My pistons came with rings but no clips or retainers... where I can i get just the clips or retainers for the YCP vitaras...

ANY and ALL info would help or if any one has any input... This is my first build and its coming along GREAT! I will be taking pics and posting them as I go, but wont be for about a week

1 . i believe a 92vx belt//may be able to slip away with an a6 though

2. / 3. hit up http://www.xenocron.com. chris and his guys will hook u up with what u need. also with the p28 and stuff

4. hit up fjt.. he will have a solution. or just buy come clips from a hardware store. bring the piston with you though

Sooooo after doing more reading and more research..... I trashed the A6 head and got a brand new rebuilt ported and polished rebuilt y8 head and I will be doing a fully built vtec y8 swap from at y7. The a6 head would have been hell said a few people...

A6 head is fully rebuilt and very clean and is looking for a good home.. PM me if interested...

New set up....

same block- Eagle rods vitara pistons ( i found the clips from FJ) Arp all around with cometic HG.

Head is fully rebuilt with all oem honda parts with valve job and some port and polish (picked this up through a local sale)

A couple new questions......

Im going from d16y7 to full d16y8 vtec swap.... and of course turbo setup as well....

Do I have to get a wiring harness for the y8 or can I just use the y7 harness and wire in vtec seperately? Assuming all the plugs are the same from y7 to y8....

my y7 trans should mount right up to the y8 correct?

Also I will be running a chipped p28.. unless someone else has a better ecu I should run?!?! I will also be getting the obd2 to obd1 conversion harness...

My stuff just got back from the machine shop as soon as I get a chance I will take pics... Pistons and rods are niiiiiice.

Any and all insight would help... Im hoping for 250hp.

Basically all I need to no is can I use my y7 wiring harness and swap the y8 in and just wire up vtec seperatly?

What are the common issues with this swap (if any) and what should I prepare for?

OK... Since no responses I have went out hunting and found all my own info... PICS BELOW

My set up is a full d6y8 swap both block and head.... I currently have non vtec d16y7

Block is notched..stock bore

-vitara Pistons
-Eagle Rods
-OEM water pump, oil pump, timing belt, gaskets and hoses (Oil pump is shimmed with .30" shim and ported)
-Cometic head gasket
-Y8 head ported and polished (pics up tomorrow most likely, im going to look at it)
-New OEM valves, springs, retainers, cam, etc... Valve job
-Y8 dizzy (this was a must cause of vtec couldnt use the y7)
-going to wire in vtec on its on and pin it out and use my y7 engine harness
-Blox turbo manifold
-Ebay t3/t4 turbo
-Ebay intercooler/piping
-Tial 38mm wastegate
-Greddy type s BOV
-450cc Bluetops w/ resistor box
-Stage 3 XTD Clutch with resurfaced flywheel (its a dd not track or racing.. just when i put my foot in it lol)
-Motorola Xenocron 2.5 bar map sensor
-chipped p28 on chrome
-obd2a to obd1 conversion harness

This is all I can think of for now.. Im sure im leaving some things out... My motor will be done being built by the end of next week assuming there is nothing else I need to order or that will set me back...

Let me no what you think or anything that I may run into...Thanks
